Cultural textile exchanges
In this participatory work Saar has immersed herself in exploring the power of textiles through family roots, community relations & storytelling. Her journey takes her through all major life cycles; birth, death and everything in between; and its impact on textile. This kind of community and participatory work revolves around not seeing anything or anyone go to waste.
Costumes
Saar Swinters is active on a freelance basis in the theatre and opera field, where costumes play a big part in characterizing and carrying the story. She currently works as supervisor wardrobe for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (compagnie Eastman) and assistant wardrobe for Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.
Textile Design
Following her Master studies in Visual arts at Luca School of Arts in Ghent, she worked in several studios and on applied textile projects gaining more in-depth knowledge ranging from textile to fashion design.
